December Portrait

Nuevo Disentanglement Mental

First of all I have to say this is a painting I did back in December of 2008, so whatever i'm doing now with it is retouching and fixing up some places, but the whole idea and production was at the end of 2008.
It started up as a hideous abstract painting. It was eating me up, so I changed it, and I ended up doing what i do best: self portrait.
I wanted to document this amazing "fire" I've been getting for the last 4 months... it feels like happiness with a drop of tranquility and it feels so fucking good that I just wanna get addicted to that "fire" and inhale it all day long. So I took a photograph I did back in Oct of last year called "Nuevo Release Mental" and I painted a crazy afro on top of it. It's big, take the sharpie as a reference. I'm not done yet, i still gotta fix a lot of stuff.

I’m not complaining about Colombian's art, cause i saw the same shit back in the states, and i see it everyday on art websites, blogs, news etc…

Seriously, wassup with this shit… I don’t wanna go to a so called art exhibition and see sand poured in chairs, dead birds floating around, an old car in a small room….what?

where’s the good art, where’s the illustration, where’s the meaning,where’s the technique, where’s the chemical, the manipulation, the lighting? the handmade shit?

disappointing.
